For Volunteers Only

Taking Photos for Social Media

IMPORTANT NOTE

If you are an in-shelter volunteer and part of the cleaning crew or support team, it’s important to remember that taking photos of the kitties comes AFTER volunteer responsibilities.

The work we do in-shelter talking with visitors, keeping a clean environment, and interacting with the kitties, is the most important work we do as volunteers and so we never want the social media tasks to interfere with that work.

TRAINING VIDEO FOR TAKING SOCIAL MEDIA PHOTOS

Thank you so much for your interest in taking photos for the social media committee.  Please watch this video for details on this position and then refer to the list below for additional information.

CHECKLIST FOR TAKING PHOTOS

✅ Landscape photos are almost always better then vertical photos.
✅ If you can, get photos when the cat is looking at the camera.
✅ We always need photos of sleeping cats.
✅ Even if the cat is not looking at the camera, we often can get creative with those photos.  As long as the photo is not blurry and a quality picture, we can add it into the mix.
✅ We only need photos of cats still available for adoption.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE VIDEO
✅ Take photos after volunteer duties are done.
✅ We can’t attribute or give you credit for your photos.
✅ Label your photos BEFORE putting them in the folder with the cat’s name FIRST.

AND thank you so much for helping us on the social media committee and being a dedicated Caring for Cats Volunteer.  It’s because of people like you that we are able to help so many kitties each year!
